How to build, attract and retain businesses in Rhode Island
Senator Lincoln Chafee, independent candidate for Governor of Rhode Island, will address the state’s current business climate, specifically how it can be improved in the areas of attracting and retaining businesses, access to capital, as well as the ongoing concern of the unemployment problem. Chafee will also address his strategy as an independent candidate, for enabling the General Assembly to finally provide solutions on the issues of competitive taxation, budget balance, pension reform, regionalization and lasting education system reform.
Lincoln Chafee has experience in Rhode Island politics for over 20 years. He was a delegate to the Rhode Island Constitutional Convention and served four years on the Warwick City Council. In 1992, Chafee was elected Mayor of Warwick and reelected in 1994, 1996 and 1998. Chafee was appointed to the United States Senate in 2000, where he served on the Foreign Relations Committee and the Environment and Public Works Committee. Chafee, a Brown University graduate, is currently a candidate for Governor of Rhode Island.
