How to build, attract and retain businesses in Rhode Island
As a third part series of "Economic Climate 2010," Rhode Island Moderate Party Founder, Kenneth Block, candidate for Governor of Rhode Island, will share his perspective and address the state's current business climate, specifically how it can be improved in the areas of attracting and retaining businesses, access to capital, as well as the ongoing concern of the unemployment problem. Block will also address his strategies for enabling the General Assembly to finally provide solutions on the issues of competitive taxation, budget balance, pension reform, regionalization and lasting education system reform. It will be interesting to see how different Block's approaches are from Governor Independent Candidate Lincoln Chafee and Rhode Island State Attorney General Patrick C. Lynch.
A Barrington resident for 18 years, Ken Block is a software engineer by training and an entrepreneur by practice. Ken is the President of Simpatico Software Systems, a software engineering firm and Cross Alert Systems, a manufacturer of specialized traffic signals for recreational trail/public road intersections. Founder of the Moderate Party of Rhode Island, Ken became active in politics after becoming increasingly unhappy with the political choices offered by the existing political parties - neither of which represented his core beliefs, which can be best described as centrist. Ken graduated from Milford High School in 1983 and from there went on to Dartmouth College where he earned a BA in Computer Science in 1987.
